The Story

This three-time, Tony award-winning musical review animates the giant world in which Fats Waller lived and largely represented: Harlem in the 20’s and 30s. It was the Golden Age of places like The Cotton Club and the Savoy Ballroom, as well as the honky-tonk dives along Lenox Avenue. On the fringes were also rent parties, where stride piano players helped birth the new beat called, “swing.” Join five performers on a journey through the timeless music of Thomas “Fats” Waller. You’ll be jumpin’ and jivin’ with memorable songs such as Honeysuckle Rose, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Black and Blue, This Joint is Jumpin’, and I’ve Got a Feeling I’m Falling. One of the most popular, well-crafted revues of all time, the sometimes sassy, often sultry musical review has moments of devastating beauty that are simply unforgettable.
