FIND YOUR LIGHT is led by Capital City Theatre’s Artistic Director, Andrew Abrams (New York composer, vocal coach, conductor, professor, and Equity actor) and Education Director, Gail Becker (Chicago cabaret star, vocal coach, musical director, and professional actor).

Find Your Light is a musical theatre intensive program designed to make the student a well-rounded performer. College, University, and Conservatory students should take advantage of this unique, spot on, targeted course. This program prepares you to audition for productions around the country and helps you build a career in musical theatre. Some topics covered in the workshops are:

  • Audition techniques and etiquette
  • Musical theatre history
  • Repertoire – finding that PERFECT song
  • Acting through song work
  • Specialized workshops with industry professionals
  • Determining “type” and finding the unique qualities about oneself that gets one noticed and cast
  • Creating a regiment for living and sustaining a career as a working actor

Capital City Theatre provides a midwest premier, elite musical theatre training program. Our top-level instruction, bridges the gap between youth and adult skillsets, and primes those individuals who are looking to take the next step and build a professional musical theatre career. We employ a holistic approach that encompasses the major disciplines of singing, acting, dancing and other stagecrafts.

CCT offers courses, workshops, and intensives providing unique and comprehensive opportunities. We are committed to serving all communities and economic backgrounds with adjustable financial responsibilities. CCT helps refine well-balanced artists who exudes confidence, creativity, and collaborative skills, and is fully prepared to grow into future generations of musical theatre career professionals and specialists.

PERFORMANCES: All courses will culminate in a review-style public performance that will highlight material that the student has worked on over the program.


Andrew Keenan-Bolger

Andrew Keenan-Bolger, actor, director, author and filmmaker brings his solo concert to Madison! He recently starred as “Jesse Tuck” in Tuck Everlasting on Broadway and created the role of “Crutchie” in the Original Broadway Cast of Newsies and in the record-breaking Newsies: The Broadway Musical film. Join Andrew for an intimate evening of songs and stories, from Broadway and beyond.

Andrew’s other Broadway roles include: Mary Poppins, Seussical, Beauty and the Beast and A Christmas Carol. He’s been seen in such national tours as Spelling Bee, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Mary Poppins and Ragtime. His Film and TV credits include: “Billy Frazier” in The Rewrite starring Hugh Grant, Marci X, Are You Joking?, Nurse Jackie (Showtime), Looking (HBO), Naked Brothers Band (Nickelodeon), and One Life to Live. His work as a filmmaker has been profiled in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone, The Associated Press and New York Magazine. Andrew holds a B.F.A. from the University of Michigan.

Join Andrew for an intimate evening of songs and stories from Broadway and beyond, that have shaped his life. Advanced “Find Your Light” Students will join Andrew for one number during the concert!  Save the date! It’s August 4, 2017.

The Advanced program is dedicated to those already training in higher education and beginning to work outside of the institutional level.  Exceptional sight singing, aural, memorization, and dance skills are recommended.

Dance intensive with Madison Ballet!  Dance classes taught by Madison Ballet professional staff and a fully choreographed song and dance routine for the final performance.

Ages: 15 yrs and older
Dates: July 24th – August 13th Monday – Sunday 9:30am – 4:30pm
Location: Madison Ballet Studios
Final Performance: Sunday, August 13th 2pm (location Fredric March Place Cir.)

Intermediate PLUS students have a solid knowledge of musical theatre techniques and want to hone skills and prepare for the rigors of college auditions and for programs beyond high school.

Ages: 13 & Older
Dates: July 5 – July 15, 2017; 9:30am – 4:30pm
Location: Madison Ballet Studios

Final Performance on Saturday July 15, 2017 at 4pm (location Fredric March Place Cir.)

Tuition: $800

No Audition, No class size limit.
Our Intermediate course is for those who have started performing in musicals and want to get a solid and grounded base of training.

Ages: 12 – 15
Dates: July 5th – 9th (Wednesday – Sunday) 10am – 4pm.
Location: Madison Ballet Studios
Final Performance on Sunday, July 9, at 4pm, at Madison Ballet Studios

Tuition: $500

Auditions for Intermediate Plus and Advanced courses can be done by video. Email and submit your video.

Please email to sign up for an audition slot. You may register for the course you wish to attend online, once decisions are made, you will be notified and your registration will be confirmed.

Please prepare two contrasting musical theatre pieces no more than 1 minute in length each.  Please no accapella singing.  Please no Wicked, Les Mis, Phantom, or Frozen.

  • Both Address 1 and Address 2 are required. If no apartment or suite # is available, then simply put N/A in Address 2.
