Advanced & Intermediate Courses

Registration for Find Your Light is now closed, and will re-open for classes in 2020. Other classes at the Conservatory open up periodically throughout each season. Check the “About the Conservatory” page for currently active classes.


What is Find Your Light?

Find Your Light is a musical theatre intensive program designed to make the student a well-rounded performer. College, University, and Conservatory students should take advantage of this unique, spot on, targeted course. This program prepares you to audition for productions around the country and helps you build a career in musical theatre. Some topics covered in the workshops are:

  • Audition techniques and etiquette

  • Musical theatre history

  • Repertoire – finding that PERFECT song

  • Acting through song work

  • Specialized workshops with industry professionals

  • Determining “type” and finding the unique qualities about oneself that gets one noticed and cast

  • Creating a regiment for living and sustaining a career as a working actor

Capital City Theatre is THRILLED to have New York Casting Director (and friend) Michael Cassara, CSA as our special guest clinician for Find Your Light Advanced!

Michael is a Casting Director and Educator based in New York City and dedicated to developing and fostering the growth of new musicals, plays, and film projects.


Submission Rules

VIDEO AUDITIONS only

How to Submit: Emailed videos or links to YouTube videos can be sent to gail@capitalcitytheatre.org (youtube videos can also be attached to the registration form.) Please fill out the “start your registration” form, before you submit your video.

  • One musical theatre piece lasting about 1 minute in length, recorded with accompaniment. Piano, tracks, pre-recorded accompaniment are all acceptable.

  • Accapella submissions are not allowed.

  • If you are auditioning specifically for the Advanced course only, please include a second contrasting piece.

About Conservatory Production of Carrie, The Musical: You MUST have previously taken, or be currently enrolled in any level of Find Your Light to audition for Carrie, The Musical.

Space is limited and when spots fill up the course will be closed. Early submission/registration is recommended. Acceptances will be determined as submissions are received.


Registration Information
Audition submissions are processed on the date they are received.  Once the class is full, if the student is accepted, they will be placed upon a waiting list. Waiting list spots may be attained when slots become available. Applicants will be notified if slots open up. Read about the program and sign up!
You must receive an acceptance notice to the program before you pay.

 

Scholarship Assistance

There will be two rounds of financial assistance/scholarship application reviews. The first round of applications are due by March 15th and will be awarded by April 1st. The second round of applications are due by May 15th and will be awarded by June 1st.
